The unexpected death of Armida forces Alex, her youngest son, to return from Argentina to Mexico City for the funeral. At the wake, Alex finds himself face-to-face with his estranged father, Don Luis, and his elder brother Carlos, who he bears a grudge against. The appearance of Rocío, a mysterious woman no one seems to know, upsets the dynamics of existing relationships between the family members, friends and couples involved.

“Within the framework described, despite its dramatic background, such as the result of the loss of a loved one, this melodramatic comedy is nourished by moments of poignant humor. Leaving aside certain preconceptions and a decidedly complacent ending, Amores Modernos is seen by its agile narration and especially by the performance of its homogeneous cast.”– TRIBUNA CULTURAL

“In recent years we have not had an ensemble of this caliber in Mexican cinema with names that are undoubtedly the best actors and actresses of their generation in this country.”– SENSACINE
